Black Widow: Recharged and Centipede: Recharged Are Free on the Epic Games Store

This month the Epic Games Store released Black Widow and Centipede for free. They were originally developed by Atari, but ran out of funding before release in 1982. Now they are back on mobile with a new lease on life!

Black Widow: Recharged and Centipede: Recharged, two contemporary adaptations of Atari’s famous arcade shooters of the same name, are the newest freebies on the Epic Games Store. Both games, developed by AdamVision and SneakyBox, will be free to download until Thursday, March 10 at 11:00 a.m. (EST). Until that day, a third freebie in the shape of the Epic Slayer Kit, a supply package for the free-to-play online action RPG Dauntless, is also available.

• The original cult favorite twin-stick shooter featuring arachnids is back! Black Widow: Recharged has been rebuilt for current gameplay, with colorful graphics, strong new powers, and another original music by award-winning video game composer Megan McDuffee, just in time for Halloween.
• In the classic arcade mode, aim for a high score and bragging rights by placing your name at the top of the scoreboard. Alternatively, you may put your talents to the test and climb the leaderboards in one of 30 incredibly innovative challenges that change the game in new and fascinating ways.
• Collect money from fallen foes to fuel a devastating web blast, or choose from a dozen new power-ups including explosive blasts, spread-shots, and terror to entrap all enemies in your web. Every mode and level may be played with a buddy in local co-op mode.

• The classic arcade game of bug-blasting is back! Centipede: Recharged has colorful graphics suited for current displays, a 16:9 field of play, and an unique soundtrack by award-winning video game composer Megan McDuffee.
• In the classic arcade mode, aim for a high score and bragging rights by placing your name at the top of the scoreboard. Alternatively, you may put your talents to the test and climb the leaderboards in one of 30 incredibly innovative challenges that change the game in new and fascinating ways.
• A dozen new power-ups may offer you an advantage by bringing screen-clearing explosions, rail weapons, and even the ability to slow down time. Every mode and level may be played with a buddy in local co-op mode.
