The “best fire type in oras” is a grass-type Pokémon that has been around since the beginning of the Pokémon series. It’s one of the most powerful, and it has a ton of moves to use against your opponent.

In Hoenn, the grass-type roster is among the best in the series.

Even if you don’t choose the Grass starter, you may still have a Grass-type Pokémon on your squad — and why not make it a powerful one?

This is my list of the finest Grass-types in Hoenn.

 

5. sluggish

Suggestions for Action:

Shiftry is a powerful Grass/Dark-type with a pre-evolution that appears early in the game.

Before it develops, its middle form (Nuzleaf) will learn Shiftry’s greatest two STAB moves.

These are Counter-Attack (a Dark-type move) which is learned at level 24, and Blade of a Leaf (a Grass-type move) is learned at level 28.

At level 36, you should additionally teach Nuzleaf Extrasensory to compensate for its vulnerability to Fighting-type attacks.

In reality, don’t develop Nuzleaf into Shiftry until it learns Extrasensory, since Shiftry evolves via the usage of a Leaf Stone, which means it only learns a few moves.

Ludicolo is a versatile character with several powerful grass-type techniques.

Ludicolo, like Shiftry, evolves via an Evolution Stone. So wait until Lombre has learned all of the level-up moves you want it to know before evolving it.

The Ludicolo family doesn’t learn any good Grass-type moves naturally. So you’ll want to take the Acro Bike into the Safari Zone to pick up Ball of Energy (TM53).

With Surf and Waterfall, two HM abilities you’ll earn naturally throughout the main plot, Ludicolo can deliver massive Water-type STAB damage and transport you over the overworld. So they’re both worthwhile to use.

And for its final move, teach Lombre Headbutt Zen at level 31 to cover for its Poison-type weakness.

Catch a Lotad on Route 102, then develop it into Lombre by raising it to level 14. Pick up a blue shard on Route 124 and exchange it in for a Water Stone from the Route 124 Treasure Hunter.

Once Lombre has learned Headbutt Zen, use the Water Stone on it to evolve it into Ludicolo.

Ludicolo is only available in Emerald, Sapphire, and Alpha Sapphire.

 

Breloom is number three.

Suggestions for Action:

• Spore

• Uppercut from the sky
• Toxic

Breloom is a Grass/Fighting-type Pokémon that, if raised properly, may learn an incredibly uncommon move.

Shroomish normally develops into Breloom at level 23. It will learn Spore if you stop it from evolving until it reaches level 40.

This is the only sleep-inducing motion in the whole series that is 100 percent true.

Breloom is still an excellent addition to the squad if you don’t grow Shroomish this way, but you’ll lose out on its strongest move.

For its main offensive moves, Breloom should use Bomb of Seeds and Uppercut from the sky.

Bomb of Seeds can be learned at level 36 by Shroomish & level 41 by Breloom.

Uppercut from the sky is only learned by Breloom, at level 39. If you’re raising Shroomish to level 40 to get Spore, just take Breloom to the Move Reminder in Fallarbor Town to teach it Uppercut from the sky at any level.

Finally, teach Breloom Toxic, the game’s most effective Poison-inflicting state move.

If you raised Shroomish through the Spore method, it will already know Toxic by the time it evolves.

Catch a Shroomish in Petalburg Woods, and it will develop into a Breloom after you reach level 23 (but not until level 40).

 

Roserade, no. 2

Roserade is a significant Generation 4 enhancement to Roselia, which was further enhanced in Generation 6.

Roserade will not be accessible if you are playing RSE. So, if that’s the case, I’d advise avoiding this post entirely, since Roselia isn’t nearly as nice.

Sceptile is an excellent Grass starter who does not need its new mega form to be at the top of the list.

There are a handful of nice Grass-type moves to consider for a moveset:

Blade of a Leaf and Ball of Energy are the best choices here, dealing Physical and Special damage respectively.

Blade of a Leaf is learned by Grovyle at level 23, while Ball of Energy can be found in the Safari Zone as TM53.

If you’re playing ORAS, make the most of Mega Sceptile’s new Dragon-typing by teaching it Chop in two at level 36.

You may choose a variety of moves to fill Sceptile’s last move slot, depending on whether you want to boost it or offer it additional offensive moves.

Personally, I like to teach it Agility in order to significantly increase its Speed.

At level 35, Grovyle learns Agility.
