New God of War Patch (1.0.5) Allows DLSS Sharpening to Be Completely Disabled, AMD Performance Problems Identified

With the release of God of War (2018) and its patch 1.0.5, users have been able to disable DLSS sharpening completely in a new section on the graphics settings menu titled “Graphics Sharpness.” This option is found under post-processing near Anti-Aliasing options. However, this has caused some AMD cards to perform poorly so far due to certain features being disabled by default which don’t support these chipsets.

The “what is dlss” is a new God of War patch that allows users to completely disable DLSS sharpening, and it has been identified that AMD performance problems have been fixed.

God of War has received a new patch from Santa Monica Studio, which adds new fixes and features to the PC edition of the highly acclaimed action-adventure game. The DLSS sharpening slider, which was introduced in the previous patch, has been improved, and God of War players may now totally eliminate DLSS sharpness by setting the slider to zero. Santa Monica Studio has also stated that it has found the issue causing lower performance on AMD computers and is working on a remedy.

Version 1.0.5 of the patch has been released (Steam)

  • Setting the DLSS Sharpening slider to 0 now disables DLSS Sharpening correctly.
  • In Borderless, interactions between the game and the taskbar will now operate properly. Fullscreen

By adjusting variables in the settings, you may fine-tune the sensitivity even further. ini file, which may be found in the game’s installation folder. Aim Assist should not be utilized in combination with this setting.

Issues with AMD’s CPU and GPU (Steam)

  • I am quite aware that I do not own a high-end computer. Without a doubt, the game continues. 90% of the time, I can play it pretty well, but it sometimes goes into “super slow motion” (cut sequences included), making the game unplayable for a few seconds before returning to normal. (Radeon RX 5500 XT/Radeon RX 5500 XT/Radeon RX 5500
  • I’ve been playing for about an hour and the frame rate has dropped dramatically from 60 to 40, 50, 30, and so on, despite the fact that I’m already playing on the lowest settings (AMD Ryzen 7 2700X, AMD R9 390)
  • I’m using the AMD Radeon R9 390 series, and after a few minutes of gaming, the game stalls and Radeon software shows up indicating there was a timeout, followed by a few seconds of severe visual issues (stretchy models, colors going wild, etc).
  • This game runs horribly on AMD, and I’d hold off on purchasing until fixes are released.
