PvE Magicka Dragonknight 100k Budget Build

In this article, I will go through the process of building a Magicka Dragonknight 100k Budget Build with PvE Trials and Dungeons in mind. This build is very cheap to get started and can be easily modified depending on your playstyle. You also have many options for end-game builds that are not too expensive as well!

The “dragonknight initiate build” is a PvE Magicka Dragonknight build that can be completed for under 100,000 gold. The build focuses on keeping the player alive and dealing damage to enemies.

PvE Magicka Dragonknight 100k Budget Build

Using just 100,000 gold, I was able to clear Veteran Vateshrah Hollows with my Magicka Dragonknight on my Twitch Livestream. There are no monsters or mythics, and I explain why. I also provide some advice on how to make better constructions. Here are the specifics, along with connections to additional resources you may find useful.

Skills

Bar at the front (Inferno Staff)

Inner Light (Morph of Magelight | Mages Guild Skill Line) – slotting boosts maximum magicka, helping us strike harder and providing a critical benefit.

Burning Embers (Morph of Searing Strike | Ardent Flame Skill Line) – Timed damage that may be reapplied for a big heal and feeds sustain through the Combustion passive.

Cauterize (Morph of Inferno | Ardent Flame skill line) – amazing burst heal that may be cast on or left running for 5 seconds of healing. I placed this on the front in the same spot as my 3 key on the back, so no matter which bar I’m at, I’m prepared.

Molten Whip (Morph of Lava Whip | Ardent Flame Skill Line) – (morph of Lava Whip | Dragonknight/Ardent Flame Skill Line): primary spammable single target attack that can be enhanced by additional Ardent Flame dots for a HUGE WHIP!

Engulfing Flames – (morph of Fiery Breath | Dragonknight/Ardent Flame skill line): Blast opponents with a flaming breath that does AOE flame damage over time.

Flawless Dawnbreaker (Morph of Dawnbreaker | Fighters Guild skill line) – (morph of Dawnbreaker | Fighters Guild skill line): For slotting on our spammable bar, updated in the last version to deliver spell damage of 300 for 20 seconds and passive spell damage of 3%.

Bar in the back (Inferno Staff or Lighting for Cheap)

Elemental Drain (Morph of Weakness to Elements | Destruction Staff) is a single target debuff that removes armor and replenishes resources. On your back bar, here is where you flex. A nice alternative is trap beast.

Cinder Storm (Morph of Ash Cloud | Earthen Heart Skill Line) – This morph has a very powerful heal over time, but it comes at the cost of damage. You use this since you don’t have enough continuous heals per second, but that’s no issue with this!

Harness Magicka (Morph of Annulment | Light Armor Skill Line) – (morph of Annulment | Light Armor Skill Line): When you take damage, this shield absorbs it for 6 seconds and helps you replenish magicka.

Draw Essence (Morph of Inhale | Draconic Power) – amazing back bar heal on demand that also performs tremendous AoE and costs less as the number of enemies surrounding you increases.

Unstable Wall Of Elements (Morph of Wall of Elements | Destruction Staff) – Massive AoE damage that bursts and procs our Maelstrom weapon on our back bar.

Standard Of Might (Morph of Dragonknight Standard | Ardent Flame Skill Line) — A powerful damage-over-time ultimate that also applies heavy defile to foes, reducing their health recovery and healing. This is a great tool to have on hand if you’re running short on resources.

Gear

Budget

This is what I use to acquire 100,000 gold from merchants or to farm myself.

Silks of the Sun may be found in the overland zone of Stonefalls or via guild merchants.

  • Adds 657 Critical Chance to 2 items
  • (three things) Adds a total of 1096 Magicka to your account.
  • (4 items) Increases weapon and spell damage by 129.
  • (5 things) Increases your Flame Damage abilities’ weapon and spell damage by 400.

Why? Overland and dirt cheap, buffs practically all of our damage! If you’re having trouble with sustain and healing (from Alik’r), use Withered Hand.

PROGRESSION

  • Work on earning front bar destruction staff or daggers, as well as jewelry, from City of Ash’s Burning Spell Weave. Change your jewelry to bloodthirsty for increased damage and a charge trait, or nirn/charge for dual wielding.

Mother’s Sorrow may be found in the Deshaan overland zone or via guild dealers (delves, dolmans, world bosses, chest).

  • (2 things) Adds a total of 1096 Magicka to your account.
  • (three things) 657 Spell Critical is added.
  • (four things) 657 Spell Critical is added.
  • (5 things) Increases the number of spell criticals by 1528.

WHY? It’s simple to get and works well at all stages of the game, even the endgame trials!

PROGRESSION

  • Sunspire’s False Gods are great for solo play, with insane sustain, mobility, and damage.
  • Bahesi from Rockgrove have very high DPS while working in groups.

Willpower may be found in the dungeon finder, the imperial city area, or via merchants.

  • (2 things) Maximum Magicka is increased by 1752.
  • (3 non-active things)

Why? Until you can get maelstrom weapons, get dirt cheap 2pc.

Maelstrom Staff: Work with VMA to earn a back bar destruction staff (flame) for increased damage. If you can’t fulfill Vet or willpower on the rear bar, you’ll become non-perfected.

Races

Dark Elf: fantastic all-around if you want to move between magicka and stamina builds, however resources are scarce.

Attributes

64 Magicka

Stone of Mundus

Thief – Increases Critical Strike by 1333 points. Increases the Critical Strike rating by 2167 while equipped with 7 Divines armor pieces.

Points for the Champion

Warfare

50 – Fighting Finesse (Slottable) Per stage, your Critical Damage and Critical Healing are increased by 2%.

50 – Deadly Aim (Slottable) Increase the amount of damage you do to single targets by 2% every level.

(Slottable) Master-at-Arms – 50 Increases the amount of damage you deal with direct damage strikes by 2% every tier.

(Slottable) Thaumaturge – 50 Damage done with damage over time effects is increased by 2% every level.

Fitness

50Grants 28 Max Health each level with Boundless Vitality (Slottable).

When you kill an adversary, Siphoning Spells (Slottable) – 50Restore 300 Magicka every level.

50 Bastion (Slottable) Increases the efficiency of your damage shields by 3% every level, as well as damage against protected adversaries.

50Grants 34.6 Armor every stage. Fortified (Slottable) – 50Grants 34.6 Armor per stage.

Crafting

(Slottable) Steed’s Blessing – 50 Increases your movement speed outside of combat by.4% every stage.

Rationer (Passives) – 50Extends the duration of any meal or drink that boosts your character’s stats every stage by ten minutes.

(Slottable) Liquid Efficiency – 50 You have a 10% chance of not consuming a potion or poison every time you use it.

(Slottable) Treasure Hunter – 50 Boost the quality of the treasure box objects you uncover.

Consumables

Brew of the Witchmother

Foods are one kind of item.

CHEAP: For 2 hours, raise Max Magicka to 2856, Max Health to 3094, and Magicka Recovery to 315.

War of the Alliance (bought with AP)

Potions are a kind of potion.

Major sorcery is granted, increasing spell damage by 20% for 47.6 seconds. For 47.6 seconds, you get a major prophesy that gives you 2191 spell critical rating. Immediately restore 7582 magicka. Gives you great intelligence, which boosts your magicka recovery by 20% for 47.6 seconds. Potions have a 45-second cooldown, so make sure you have three points in the alchemy making medicinal use passive.
